Our Story

Church software should never cost a church a single cent.

We built Free Church ChMS — a complete, AI-ready church management platform — and gave it away to every church on earth, forever. This is why.

The conviction

A church's money belongs to its mission — not to a software bill.

Every month, churches around the world pay for software just to do the work God already called them to do: know their people, care for the ones quietly slipping away, steward what's given, and reach the next person. Six tools, six logins, six invoices — money that could have fed a child, sheltered a family, or sent someone to serve.

We couldn't square that. So we made a different choice: build the best church platform we could, and then refuse to charge a church for it. Not a trial. Not a freemium tease. Free — completely, and forever — including the source code, given to any church that asks.

The moment that proved why
$1.3M

In 2026, a church-AI startup raised $1.3 million in venture funding — led by Draper Associates — to build a paid platform for churches.

We hold nothing against the people building it; we wish them well. But we believe the model is broken at its root. Venture capital exists to multiply itself. When you take it to build church software, the return has to come from somewhere — and there is only one place it can come from: the church.

Higher fees. Lock-in. Roadmaps written for investors instead of pastors. And the pressure — always the pressure — to turn a congregation's data into an asset on someone's balance sheet. We watched it happen in every other industry. We will not let it quietly happen to the Body of Christ.

So we drew a line. Free Church ChMS will never be sold, never be funded by monetizing your people, and never send a church a bill for the right to care for its own.

ChurchAI's $1.3M pre-seed round (led by Draper Associates, with Flybridge, Kern Venture Group & The Pitch Fund) is publicly announced — 2026. We name it not in anger, but to be clear about the two roads in front of the Church.
Two roads

The model we refuse, and the model we chose.

The venture-funded model
  • Answers to investors who expect a return
  • Charges the church a monthly fee — forever
  • Your congregation's data becomes the product
  • Lock-in: leaving means losing your history
  • Growth measured in dollars extracted from churches
The Free Church ChMS model
  • Answers to congregations and to Christ alone
  • Free forever — no fee, no tiers, no catch
  • Your data is yours; AI runs on your key, on your server
  • Open source — take the code and self-host, anytime
  • Funded by love, so every gift can feed a child
Why free, really

So that children may be fed.

We reinvented the model on purpose. The money that used to feed a software company — we want it to feed hungry children instead. A church keeps its budget and its data; a child gets a meal. That is the whole idea.

Free Church ChMS is offered freely, as an act of faith, under the prayerful intercession of the Holy Mother Mary and in dedication to Pope Leo. Every charitable gift we point to goes to the Good Samaritan ministry.
